    Sentiment analysis of European bonds 2016 - 2018

    We revisit the discussion of market sentiment in European sovereign bonds using a correlation analysis toolkit based on influence networks and hierarchical clustering. We focus on three case studies of political interest. In the case of the 2016 Brexit referendum, the market showed negative correlations between core and periphery only in the week before the referendum. Before the French presidential elections in 2017, the French bond spread widened together with the estimated Le Pen election probability, but the position of French bonds in the correlation blocks did not weaken. In summer 2018, during the budget negotiations within the new Italian coalition, the Italian bonds reacted very sensitively to changing political messages but did not show contagion risk to Spain or Portugal for several months. The situation changed during the week from October 22 to 26, as a spillover pattern of negative sentiment also to the other peripheral countries emerged

    Clustered multidimensional scaling with Rulkov neurons

    Copyright ©2016 IEICEWhen dealing with high-dimensional measurements that often show non-linear characteristics at multiple scales, a need for unbiased and robust classification and interpretation techniques has emerged. Here, we present a method for mapping high-dimensional data onto low-dimensional spaces, allowing for a fast visual interpretation of the data. Classical approaches of dimensionality reduction attempt to preserve the geometry of the data. They often fail to correctly grasp cluster structures, for instance in high-dimensional situations, where distances between data points tend to become more similar. In order to cope with this clustering problem, we propose to combine classical multi-dimensional scaling with data clustering based on self-organization processes in neural networks, where the goal is to amplify rather than preserve local cluster structures. We find that applying dimensionality reduction techniques to the output of neural network based clustering not only allows for a convenient visual inspection, but also leads to further insights into the intraand inter-cluster connectivity. We report on an implementation of the method with Rulkov-Hebbian-learning clustering and illustrate its suitability in comparison to traditional methods by means of an artificial dataset and a real world example

    Als Grundlage für die Praxishilfe "Klimaschutz in der räumlichen Planung" wurde im Auftrag des Umweltbundesamtes eine Reihe von Konzepten, Plänen und Programmen auf teil- bzw. gesamtstädtischer, regionaler und Landesebene untersucht, die für die Integration des Klimaschutz in die räumliche Planung beispielhaft sind. Es handelt sich im Schwerpunkt um formelle Instrumente (Bebauungs- und Flächennutzungspläne, Regionalpläne, Landesentwicklungspläne). Komplementär wurden auch informelle Instrumente untersucht, die die fachliche Grundlage für eine integrierte und effektive Bearbeitung des Klimaschutzes in der förmlichen Raumplanung darstellen (v.a. Energieversorgungs- und Klimaschutzkonzepte)

    A pathway for Parkinson's Disease LRRK2 kinase to block primary cilia and Sonic hedgehog signaling in the brain

    Parkinson’s disease-associated LRRK2 kinase phosphorylates multiple Rab GTPases, including Rab8A and Rab10. We show here that LRRK2 kinase interferes with primary cilia formation in cultured cells, human LRRK2 G2019S iPS cells and in the cortex of LRRK2 R1441C mice. Rab10 phosphorylation strengthens its intrinsic ability to block ciliogenesis by enhancing binding to RILPL1. Importantly, the ability of LRRK2 to interfere with ciliogenesis requires both Rab10 and RILPL1 proteins. Pathogenic LRRK2 influences the ability of cells to respond to cilia-dependent, Hedgehog signaling as monitored by Gli1 transcriptional activation. Moreover, cholinergic neurons in the striatum of LRRK2 R1441C mice show decreased ciliation, which will decrease their ability to sense Sonic hedgehog in a neuro-protective circuit that supports dopaminergic neurons. These data reveal a molecular pathway for regulating cilia function that likely contributes to Parkinson’s disease-specific pathology

    AbstractThis article presents detailed purification procedures for the bromodomains BRD3(1), BRD3(2), BRD4(1), and BRPF1B. In addition we provide crystallization protocols for apo BRD4(1) and BRD4(1) in complex with numerous inhibitors. The protocols described here were successfully applied to obtain affinity data by isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and by differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF) as well as structural characterizations of BRD4(1) inhibitor complexes (PDB codes: PDB: 4LYI, PDB: 4LZS, PDB: 4LYW, PDB: 4LZR, PDB: 4LYS, PDB: 5D24, PDB: 5D25, PDB: 5D26, PDB: 5D3H, PDB: 5D3J, PDB: 5D3L, PDB: 5D3N, PDB: 5D3P, PDB: 5D3R, PDB: 5D3S, PDB: 5D3T). These data have been reported previously and are discussed in more detail elsewhere [1,2]

    A Full Computation-relevant Topological Dynamics Classification of Elementary Cellular Automata

    Cellular automata are both computational and dynamical systems. We give a complete classification of the dynamic behaviour of elementary cellular automata (ECA) in terms of fundamental dynamic system notions such as sensitivity and chaoticity. The "complex" ECA emerge to be sensitive, but not chaotic and not eventually weakly periodic. Based on this classification, we conjecture that elementary cellular automata capable of carrying out complex computations, such as needed for Turing-universality, are at the "edge of chaos"

    Loss-of-function mutations in the ATP13A2/PARK9 gene cause complicated hereditary spastic paraplegia (SPG78)

    Hereditary spastic paraplegias are heterogeneous neurodegenerative disorders characterized by progressive spasticity of the lower limbs due to degeneration of the corticospinal motor neurons. In a Bulgarian family with three siblings affected by complicated hereditary spastic paraplegia, we performed whole exome sequencing and homozygosity mapping and identified a homozygous p.Thr512Ile (c.1535C>T) mutation in ATP13A2. Molecular defects in this gene have been causally associated with Kufor-Rakeb syndrome (#606693), an autosomal recessive form of juvenile-onset parkinsonism, and neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (#606693), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the intracellular accumulation of autofluorescent lipopigments. Further analysis of 795 index cases with hereditary spastic paraplegia and related disorders revealed two additional families carrying truncating biallelic mutations in ATP13A2. ATP13A2 is a lysosomal P5-type transport ATPase, the activity of which critically depends on catalytic autophosphorylation. Our biochemical and immunocytochemical experiments in COS-1 and HeLa cells and patient-derived fibroblasts demonstrated that the hereditary spastic paraplegia-associated mutations, similarly to the ones causing Kufor-Rakeb syndrome and neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, cause loss of ATP13A2 function due to transcript or protein instability and abnormal intracellular localization of the mutant proteins, ultimately impairing the lysosomal and mitochondrial function. Moreover, we provide the first biochemical evidence that disease-causing mutations can affect the catalytic autophosphorylation activity of ATP13A2. Our study adds complicated hereditary spastic paraplegia (SPG78) to the clinical continuum of ATP13A2-associated neurological disorders, which are commonly hallmarked by lysosomal and mitochondrial dysfunction. The disease presentation in our patients with hereditary spastic paraplegia was dominated by an adult-onset lower-limb predominant spastic paraparesis. Cognitive impairment was present in most of the cases and ranged from very mild deficits to advanced dementia with frontotemporal characteristics. Nerve conduction studies revealed involvement of the peripheral motor and sensory nerves. Only one of five patients with hereditary spastic paraplegia showed clinical indication of extrapyramidal involvement in the form of subtle bradykinesia and slight resting tremor. Neuroimaging cranial investigations revealed pronounced vermian and hemispheric cerebellar atrophy. Notably, reduced striatal dopamine was apparent in the brain of one of the patients, who had no clinical signs or symptoms of extrapyramidal involvement

    Dulisch, Linssen und Reiter (2001) legten ein umfassendes Evaluationskonzept für die FH Bund vor. In den zehn Fachbereichen und im Zentralbereich der FH Bund erfolgt/e eine Diskussion, Modifikation und konkrete Anpassung an die Belange vor Ort. Dieser Prozess wurde in einer Evaluationtagung an der FH Bund im Juni 2003 gebündelt. Die Tagung zeigte, dass alle Fachbereiche und der Zentralbereich Fortschritte machen, wenn auch in unterschiedlichem Tempo. Dieser Band dokumentiert den Status Quo der Evaluation in den Fachbereichen und dem Zentralbereich und folgt damit § 6 Hochschulrahmengesetz (HRG), wonach die Arbeit der Hochschulen bewertet und das Ergebnis der Bewertung veröffentlicht werden soll.
